I see a lot of jokes going around about "poschim bongo".Fine ,the name sounds funny.It rhymes with Congo.

But when people asks "Why do they change it to this name?" The only answer is " Well it was already there,if you are too ignorant to notice that, I cannot help ".They just dropped the English name. Banga is the name of this place for almost 2000 years .Didn't you know that? Yes it is not "Bangal" as you pronounce it . Surprise it is not even "bongla "(Bangla is fine).So this is not all of a sudden.Our state was having two names and to erase the conflict they just dropped the English name.
Even up to this was fine. Then I saw this "http://www.hindustantimes.com/News-Feed/columnsothers/Loojh-Canawn/Article1-741288.aspx" .Now I have a question for all of you . Suppose you are singing a English Song .What is the correct way of singing it? The way it was sang initially .Right? .The writer crossed the barrier by bringing up the national song.Sorry mate , it is not "Jana gana mana ". It is indeed "Jono gono mono".Can't help "Robindronath" was a bong.
Now about the pronunciation.Yes ,we cannot pronounce Hindi properly. But so does everybody. Every Hindi speaking state has their own dialect.Please enlighten me about which to follow.Anyway,we are not supposed speak Hindi that well.Simply because it is not our mother language.
Any body complaining about English pronunciation is joking for sure.Even Brits and Americans don't speak the same English.
What about South India ?What about North India?Do they speak proper English?He he don't get me started .
Accent is something you inherit .Every language lacks some sounds.If you compare to Bantu Language I think we will be then lacking lots of sounds.
About names? The pronunciation of my name is Awrpawn .I also used to think who the hell is "Arpan".If you think the way you pronounce my name is correct ,you are wrong the same way a Prof is wrong while saying your name . How many of you actually made an attempt to say our name correctly?
Language is something a bong is very proud of .Did you know "World Mother Language Day"?It is when four bongs died fighting for their language. We are the only race who fought for their language.So please making fun is ok ,but being ignorant and thinking that making fun is your right is not.
